Kimmel Windows, located on LaGuardia Place and West 3rd Street, is a unique cultural destination at the heart of New York University, providing a space for exemplary public exhibits. These 13 ground floor vitrines offer 3 dynamic exhibitions a year.
The Windows operate under the umbrella the Provost’s office, at the heart of NYU’s Art in Public Places initiative which facilitates the display of art in outdoor spaces around campus.
We offer professionally curated, thoughtful, and engaging exhibitions organized by NYU graduate students, faculty, departments and programs, resulting in a program that represents the wide range of scholarly discourse at New York University.
Exhibiting partners in the past have included NYU’s Department of Art History, the Asian/Pacific/American Institute, the MA Program in Art & Politics (TSOA), 80 Washington Square East Galleries, the Fales Library, The Gallatin School of Individualized Study, the Abby Grey Art Gallery, the Institute of Fine Arts, the MA Program in Museum Studies, the Department of Photography & Imaging (TSOA), the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, and the Tamiment Library & Robert F. Wagner Library. We are looking for additional NYU partners to join this roster of participating units.
Pamela Jean Tinnen is Lead Curator and Exhibitions Manager for NYU Kimmel Windows. She has organized exhibitions in the Windows and across NYU since 2011.
